Woodworking has been a Barton tradition for more than 50 years now and we are still a family-owned, non-franchised business, operated right here in Surfside Beach, SC. Since the very beginning, we’ve treated every customer like they were a part of our family. Other companies may offer similar services, but our services are the best, and come with a personal touch.
Whenever woodworking comes to mind, many folks think of it as being simple and basic. However, it really does take years of learning how to approach each piece individually and how to expertly restore it with care and caution. I began working with wood at a early age by helping my father, who was a master craftsman in his own right, as well as a high school woodworking shop instructor, spanning a career of over half a century.

I'd always been impressed by the way ordinary, plain wood can be transformed and created into something of an art form in itself. As a professional, I've been in this business since 1990, when I started as a cabinet maker, building custom kitchens, bath vanities, wall units and entertainment centers. Shortly thereafter I became interested in furniture restoration/repair as well, working in a small shop with a few other craftsmen doing just that. The knowledge I gained by doing so will be with me forever, making this not only a business but a passion. I still enjoy building new projects as well...there's just something special about the aroma of freshly cut wood with sawdust under my feet!
